It's not something anyone likes. We certainly would not like to be thought of as slaves. Sadly, slavery has not been abolished completely, it has only evolved.
We are all slaves to money.
Our bosses expect salaried employees to do whatever they want.. Just like slaves. Sure, we have the right to deny unreasonable requests and do as we wish, but that does not guarantee our jobs nor does it keep us safe.
Whether by our own conscious decisions or the daily struggles, money is a necessary evil. The reality is that only 5% of the American population is financially free and maybe 10-15% are financially comfortable. Those are the lucky few that were either born into wealth or, well, just lucky to not have to worry about the financial woes of tomorrow.
The rest of us are scraping by, surviving but not thriving, or simply living check by check. A successful entrepreneur once called this existence as "being one paycheck away from being homeless". That may sound a bit rough but, when we stop to think about it, it's true.
What would happen if you lost your job today, tomorrow, or next week? Maybe you already have and the bills are piling up. It's scary to wonder what would happen if we are unable to provide for our families and keep the lights on.
If you have ever hit rock bottom or are there now, you know how it feels. I know I do. You start to realize what really matters. We all need food, shelter, and electricity. Transportation is nice as well. As money becomes less available, we scale back expenses to focus on the bare necessities. Then we start to miss the simple little pleasures of life like going to the park with loved ones, doing weekly or at least monthly movie/dinner outings, going to the museum or a convention, or at least ordering take-out.
For these very reasons, I decided to stop making excuses and procrastinating. I decided to step out of my comfort zone and take a risk, rather than just playing by someone else's rules. I am sick and tired of being sick and tired, and I know I am not alone. This site is to be a bastion of hope for those looking for real answers to their debt issues.
Here's what we will do on this community site - together:
- Highlighting hype-free, no-bull success stories - we're tired of the sales talk and cookie-cutter content, too!
- Sharing real stories of single parents, struggling families, and working individuals beating the rat race and finding real financial freedom.
- Going beyond "get rich quick" schemes and finding real solutions to establish residual income streams and NEVER have to worry about tomorrow again.
- Debunking work from home, home based business opportunities, MLMs, network marketing, and everything in between.
- Providing hard proof of personal successes and those of friends and readers - we'd love to share your stories too!
- Spreading hope and opportunity that undersells and overdelivers - the only limit is the size of your dreams!
- Creating a place where you can meet other real people looking for the success and peace of mind that traditional jobs do not afford us.
Now, I know, you may be reading this and thinking what I have often thought when I find content like this, "This sounds like a sales pitch.. A whole lot of baloney." Fair enough. I will not make big, empty promises like most so, stick around and come back, and you may just find something that may be of value to you.
Here's the startling revelation that many successful entrepreneurs have discovered after many years or, if they are lucky, in their youth: no one becomes financially secure from a traditional 9-to-5 job. Even if you make good money, taxes, transportation, benefits, and so many other things cut your actual take-home earnings by more than half.
The biggest wake-up call for me is this: jobs are never guaranteed. Today, you could be working, tomorrow you could be jobless. This is why everyone needs a Plan B - because we know how tough it is to find another job (at least without settling). But more on all that in future updates!
For now, let's pledge to be slaves to money no more!
